My morning devotion included these verses from Psalms 116…
“I love the Lord because He hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. Because He bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!” v.1-2
“Let my soul be at rest again, for the Lord has been good to me. He has saved me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling. And so I (will) walk in the Lord’s presence as I live here on earth!” v.7-9
And from I Timothy 2…
“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave His life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.” v.1-6
After reading and journaling this morning I realized (yet again) that I am called to pray for all people. His word states that very clearly. And not just for those who are saved but for all people, including our leaders and those in places of authority who are in those positions of power. May God give them wisdom and help them as they make decisions that will effect us here and now as well as our children and the future generations.
