SEPTEMBER 1st

MORNING
The fruit of the Spirit is…kindness.

The humble…shall increase their joy in the Lord, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.Unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. The incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit…is very precious in the sight of God.Love does not parade itself, is not puffed up.Pursue…gentleness.Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart. He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth.Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: “Who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth”; who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously.

Galatians 5:22, Isaiah 29:19, Matthew 18:3-4, 1 Peter 3:4, 1 Corinthians 13:4, 1 Timothy 6:11, Matthew 11:29, Isaiah 53:7, 1 Peter 2:21-23

EVENING
If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

By honor and dishonor, by evil report and good report. All who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. The offense of the cross. If I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ. If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, and evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s maters. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter. To you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake.If One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. If we endure, we shall also reign with Him.

SEPTEMBER 2nd

MORNING
Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart.

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. You have been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat; for the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall. The testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.Do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.

Psalm 27:14, Isaiah 40:28-29, Isaiah 41:10, Isaiah 25:4, James 1:3-4 Hebrews 10:35-36

EVENING
He makes me to lie down in green pastures.

The wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest. “There is peace,” says my God, “for the wicked.”Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Rest in the Lord.He who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works.Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by grace. We should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ.I sat down in his shade with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste. He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.

SEPTEMBER 3rd

MORNING
Nor shall leaven be seen among you in all your quarters.

The fear of the Lord is to hate evil.Abhor what is evil.Abstain from every form of evil.[Look] carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled. If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear.Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.Let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread and drink of that cup.Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.Such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners. In Him there is no sin.

EVENING
The serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die…Your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. My brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.Lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.

SEPTEMBER 4th

MORNING
Sit still, my daughter.

Take heed, and be quiet; do not fear or be fainthearted.Be still and know that I am God.Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?The loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be brought low; the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.Mary…sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word.Mary has chosen that Good part, which will not be taken away from her.In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength.Meditate within your heart on your bed.Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.He will not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. His heart is established.Whoever believes will not act hastily.

EVENING
What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.

You shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.“When I passed by you again and looked upon you, indeed your time was the time of love;…yes, I swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you, and you became Mine,” says the Lord God.Whom the Lord loves He chastens.Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.Our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen.

SEPTEMBER 5th

MORNING
As the body is one and has many members,…so also is Christ.

He is the head of the body, the church.Head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.We are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.A body You have prepared for Me.Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them. They were Yours, You gave them to Me.He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world.Whom He foreknew, He also predestines to be conformed to the image of His Son.Grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies,…causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

EVENING
The fountain of living waters.

How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, and You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures. For with You is the fountain of life. Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, My servants shall eat, but you shall be hungry; behold, My servants shall drink, but you shall be thirsty.”“Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”This He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive.Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters. The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.

SEPTEMBER 6th

MORNING
Let us lift our hearts and hands to God in heaven.

Who is like the Lord our God, who dwells on high, who humbles Himself to behold the things that are in the heavens and in the earth? To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.I spread out my hands to You; my soul longs for You like a thirsty land. Do to hide Your face from me, lest I be like those who go down into the pit. Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, for in You do I trust; cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to You.Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You. Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.Rejoice the soul of Your servant, for to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You.Whatever you ask in My name, that I will do.

Lamentations 3:41, Psalm 113:5-6, Psalm 25:1, Psalm 143:6-8, Psalm 63:3-4, Psalm 86:4-5, John 14:13

EVENING
Watchman, what of the night?

It is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.Learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors! Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I do hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning— yes, more than those who watch for the morning. He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!Watch…for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

SEPTEMBER 7th

MORNING
Rejoicing in hope.

The hope which is laid up for you in heaven. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God.Whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. No one should be shaken by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that we are appointed to this.Rejoice in the word always. Again I will say, rejoice! The God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.Whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory.Through [Him] also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

EVENING
I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinks upon me.

“I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says the Lord, “thoughts of peace and not of evil.”“My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”How precious…are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; when I awake, I am still with You.O Lord, how great are Your works! Your thoughts are very deep. Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful works which You have done; and Your thoughts toward us.Not many mighty, nor many noble, are called.Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom? Having nothing, yet possessing all things. The unbearable riches of God.

SEPTEMBER 8th

MORNING
You have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting.

The Lord is the God of knowledge; and by Him actions are weighed. What is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God.The Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? What things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ.Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts. You have tested my heart; You have visited me in the night; You have tried me and have found nothing.

Daniel 5:27, 1 Samuel 2:3, Luke 16:15, 1 Samuel 16:7, Galatians 6:7-8, Matthew 16:26, Philippians 3:7, Psalm 51:6, Psalm 17:3

EVENING
Christ, the first fruits.

Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. If the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches. Now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. If we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection. The Lord Jesus Christ…will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself. The firstborn from the dead.If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.”

SEPTEMBER 9th

MORNING
He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He has sent away empty.

You say, “I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing”—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked—I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. The poor and needy seek water, but there is none, their tongues fail for thirst, I the Lord, will hear them; I,the God of Israel, will not forsake them.I am the Lord your God,…open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in abundance.I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

Luke 1:53, Revelation 3:17-19, Matthew 5:6, Isaiah 41:17, Psalm 81:10, Isaiah 55:2, John 6:35

EVENING
My feet had almost stumbled; my steps had nearly slipped.

If I say, “My foot slips,” Your mercy, O Lord, will hold me up.The Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail.”A righteous man may fall seven times and rise again.Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand.Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; when I fall, I will arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me.He shall deliver you in six troubles, yes, in seven no evil shall touch you.If anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

SEPTEMBER 10th

MORNING
I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the good of them and their children after them.

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you.Good and upright is the Lord; therefore He teaches sinners in the way. The humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His way. All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth, to such as keep His covenant and His testimonies. That they may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.I…beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness,…endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bed of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Jeremiah 32:39, Ezekiel 36:26, Psalm 25:8-10, John 17:21, Ephesians 4:1-6

EVENING
Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.

When I am weak, then I am strong. My God shall be my strength. He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, and My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.Let him take hold of My strength.Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you.The arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the Mighty God of Jacob.I will not let You go unless You bless me!You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.Plead my cause, O Lord, with those who strive with me; fight against those who fight against me. Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help.

SEPTEMBER 11th

MORNING
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

You shall not follow a crowd to do evil.Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself and enemy of God.What fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols?Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. The world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. You once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience. You have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him,…as the truth is in Jesus.

Romans 12:2, Exodus 23:2, James 4:4, 2 Corinthians 6:14-16, 1 John 2:15,17, Ephesians 2:2, Ephesians 4:20-21

EVENING
Man goes out to his work and to his labor until evening.

In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground. We commanded you this: if anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.Aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands.Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going. The night is coming when no one can work.Let us nit grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.Always [abound] in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. There remains…a rest for the people of God.To us who have borne the burden and the heat of the day. This is the rest with which you may cause the weary to rest, and this is the refreshing.

SEPTEMBER 12th

MORNING
I have seen his ways, and will heal him.

I am the Lord who heals you.Lord, You have searched me and known me.You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. You have set our iniquities before You, our secret sins in the light of Your countenance. All things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.“Come now, and let us reason together,” says the Lord, “though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”He is gracious to him, and says, “Deliver him from going down to the Pit; I have found a ransom.”He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted.Your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.

EVENING
The Lord is for me.

May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; may the name of the God of Jacob defend you; may He send you help from the sanctuary, and strengthen you out of Zion. We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners! Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. They have bowed down and fallen; but we have risen and stand upright. When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.If God is for us, who can be against us?The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us, and He will deliver us.

SEPTEMBER 13th

MORNING
If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.

My soul longs, yes, even faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory.Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. And whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.My blood is drink indeed.Eat, O friends! Drink, yes, drink deeply, O beloved ones!

EVENING
You are the salt of the earth.

The incorruptible beauty.Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever. He who believes in Me, through he may die, he shall live.Sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. The incorruptible God.If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption.Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another.Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

SEPTEMBER 14th

MORNING
I, even I, am He who comforts you.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you.[Cast] all you care upon Him, for He cares for you. You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, long-suffering and abundant in mercy and truth. He will give you another Helper,…the Spirit of truth. The Spirit…helps in our weaknesses.God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.

EVENING
You were called into the fellowship of His Son.

He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!Be imitators of God as dear children. If children, then heirs–heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. The brightness of his glory and the express image of His person.Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame. These things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves. As the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ.

SEPTEMBER 15th

MORNING
Sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!My brethren, you…have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another—to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God. Being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ.Being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ. The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.Whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.If the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

EVENING
A double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.He who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.Let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord.Whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.No longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love,…grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ.Abide in Me.Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

SEPTEMBER 16th

MORNING
The Lord weighs the hearts.

The Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish. The Lord will show who is His and who is holy.Your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear.Lord, all my desire is before You; and my sighing is not hidden from You.When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then You knew my path.He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.The solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”

EVENING
Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

No one should be shaken by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that we are appointed to this. For, in fact, we told you before when we were with you that we would suffer tribulation. In Me you…have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.I shall be satisfied when I wake in Your likeness. The night is far spent, the day is at hand.He shall be like the light of the morning when the sun rises, a morning without clouds, like the tender grass springing out of the earth, by clear shining after rain.He will swallow up death forever, and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces. There shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.We who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Therefore comfort one another with these words.

SEPTEMBER 17th

MORNING
A bruised reed He will not break.

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart–these, O God, You will not despise. He heals the brokenhearted and binds their wounds. Thus says the High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, with him who has a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. For I will not contend forever, nor will I always be angry; for the spirit would fail before Me, and the souls which I have made.”I will seek what was lost and bring back what was driven away, bind up the broken and strengthen what was sick. Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.Behold, your God…will come and save you.

EVENING
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from,…he said…,”Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”The ear tests words as the palate tastes food.I believed and therefore I spoke.I know whom I have believed.I sat down in his shade with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste. The goodness of God.He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.Let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; let them ever shout for joy.

SEPTEMBER 18th

MORNING
Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law.

He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. It has been given to you, to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them to babes. Even so Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. We have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand.Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counselor? For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.

EVENING
He called its name En Hakkore [Spring of the Caller].

If you knew the gift of God and who it is who says to you, “Give Me a drink,” you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water. If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me, and drink. This He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive.“Try Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such a blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it!”If you…being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find.Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!”You did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”

SEPTEMBER 19th

MORNING
The God of all grace.

I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious. He is gracious to him, and says, “Deliver him from going down to the Pit; I have found a ransom.”Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed.Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.By grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.Grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.To each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.He gives more grace.Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever.

EVENING
I will lift up my eyes to the hills–from whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord.

As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people from this time forth and forever.Unto You I lift my eyes, O You who dwell in the heavens. Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, until He has mercy on us.Because You have been my help, therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice.O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us: nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for He shall pluck my feet out of the net.Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

SEPTEMBER 20th

MORNING
Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding.

Whoever finds me finds life, and obtains favor from the Lord. Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not the mighty man glory in his might,…but let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord.”The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. What things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ. In [Him] are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom; I am understanding, I have strength.Christ Jesus…became for us wisdom…and righteousness and sanctification and redemption. He who wins souls is wise.

EVENING
Poor, yet making many rich.

You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.Of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. My God shall supply all your need according to HIs riches in glory by Christ Jesus.God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?Not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty. We have this measure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.

SEPTEMBER 21st

MORNING
We know that all things work together for good to those who love God.

Surely the wrath of man shall praise You; with the remainder of wrath You shall gird Yourself. You meant evil against me; but God meant it for good. All things are yours: whether…the world or life or death, or things present or things to come–all are yours. And you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.All things are for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God. Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

Romans 8:28, Psalm 76:10, Genesis 50:20, 1 Corinthians 3:21-23, 2 Corinthians 4:15-17, James 1:2-4

EVENING
The Communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with yu forever–the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.He will not speak on His own authority…He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.The love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.He who is joined to the Lord is one spirit. Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. The Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered.

SEPTEMBER 22nd

MORNING
May my meditation be sweet to Him; I will be glad in the Lord.

Like an apple tree among the trees of the woods, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down in his shade with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste. For who in the heavens can be compared to the Lord? Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened to the Lord?My beloved is white and ruddy, chief among ten thousand. One pearl of great price. The ruler over the kings of the earth. His head is like the finest gold; his locks are wavy, and black as a raven.Head over all things. He is the head of the body, the church. His cheeks are like a bed of spices, banks of scented herbs. He could not be hidden. His lips are lilies, dripping liquid myrrh. No man ever spoke like this Man!His countenance is like Lebanon, excellent as the cedars.Make Your face shine upon Your servant.Lord, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us.

O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass fromMe; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.

Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? “Father, save Me from this hour?” But for this purpose I came to this hour.I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.He…became obedient to the point of death. In the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear, though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered.Do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

SEPTEMBER 23rd

MORNING
Our God did not forsake us.

Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you.If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. The Lord your God is testing you to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. The Lord will not forsake His people, for His great name’s sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you His people. Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you.Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God.Shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily.

EVENING
He who overcomes shall inherit all things.

If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. Now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.An inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you.All things are yours: whether…the world or life or death, or things present or things to come–all are yours.Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him. But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit.Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward.Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.

SEPTEMBER 24th

MORNING
It is good for me to draw near to God.

Lord, I have loved the habitation of Your house, and the place where Your glory dwells. For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.Blessed is the man You choose, and cause to approach You, that he may dwell in Your courts. We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, of Your holy temple. The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; and therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for Him.Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us,…let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from and evil conscience.

EVENING
You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. You are fairer than the sons of men; grace is poured upon Your lips. All bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. You have tasted that the Lord is gracious. He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself. We speak what We know and testify what We have seen.Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him!I sat down in his shade with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste. He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”To each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

SEPTEMBER 25th

MORNING
Let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

Now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ. We also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance, and perseverance, character; and character, hope.It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. You have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves in heaven. Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise. Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts.

James 1:4, 1 Peter 1:6-7, Romans 5:3-4, Lamentations 3:26, Hebrews 10:34-36, 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

EVENING
God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ.

Judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one’s praise will come from God.The Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son…because He is the Son of Man.The Son of God…has eyes like a flame of fire. They say, “How does God know? And is there knowledge in the Most High?”These things you have done, and I kept silent; you thought that I was altogether like you; but I will rebuke you, and set them in order before your eyes. There is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known.Lord, all my desire is before You; and my sighing is not hidden from You.Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; try my mind and my heart.

SEPTEMBER 26th

MORNING
A God of truth and without injustice; righteous and upright is He.

Him who judges righteously. We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. Each of us shall give account of himself to God.The soul who sins shall die.“Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd, against the Man who is My Companion,” says the Lord of hosts. “Strike the Shepherd.”The Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.Mercy and truth have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed.Mercy triumphs over judgment. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.A just God and a Savior; there is none besides Me.Just and justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.Justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

EVENING
Death is swallowed up in victory.

Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.Inasmuch…as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. If we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

SEPTEMBER 27th

MORNING
Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.

Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord; though they join forces, none will go unpunished.O Lord, You are our Father; we are the clay, and You our potter; and all we are the work of Your hand. Do not be furious, O Lord, nor remember iniquity forever; indeed, please look—-we all are Your people! You have chastised me, and I was chastised, like an untrained bull; restore me, and I will return, for You are the Lord my God. Surely, after my turning, I repented; and after I was instructed, I struck myself on the thigh; I was ashamed, yes, even humiliated, because I bore the reproach of my youth. It is good for a man to bear the yoke in his youth.Affliction does not come from the dust, nor does trouble spring from the ground; yet man is born to trouble, as the sparks fly upward.

1 Peter 5:6, Proverbs 16:5, Isaiah 64:8-9, Jeremiah 31:18-19, Lamentations 3:27, Job 5:6-7

EVENING
Has God indeed said?

When the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God.” He answered and said, “It is written…It is written…It is written…” Then the devil left Him.“I cannot return with you…For I have been told by the word of the Lord, ‘You shall not eat bread nor drink water there,’” He said to him, “I too am a prophet as you are, and an angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord, saying, ‘Bring him back with you to your house, that he may eat bread and drink water.’” (He was lying to him.) So he went back with him. The man of God…was disobedient to the word of the Lord. Therefore the Lord has delivered him to the lion, which has torn him and killed him, according to the word of the Lord.If we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.

SEPTEMBER 28th

MORNING
They shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.

O Lord our God, masters besides You have had dominion over us; but by You only we make mention of Your name.We have become like those of old, over whom You never ruled, those who were never called by Your name. All peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you.The Lord will not forsake His people, for His great name’s sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you His people.O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act! Do not delay for Your own sake, my God, for Your city and Your people are called by Your name.Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of Your name; and deliver us, and provide atonement for our sins, for Your name’s sake! Why should the nations says, “Where is their God?”The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

EVENING
The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.

Since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead. He did not leave Himself without witness.Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard. When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him? There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead. Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever.

SEPTEMBER 29th

MORNING
By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us.

The love of Christ…passes knowledge.Greater love has no one than this; than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.[Bear] with one another, and [forgive] one another; even as Christ forgave you.For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.Christ…suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps. You also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.We also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

EVENING
The Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.

The Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist.Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart. My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Those who are called, sanctified by God the Father. Both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren.“Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the Lord. The fullness of Him who fills all in all.“I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no savior.”This is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.

SEPTEMBER 30th

MORNING
He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.

He knows our frame. He does not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men.The solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the later, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, Prepared for every good work.He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer to the Lord an offering in righteousness.I…will refine them as silver is refined…They will call on My name, and I will answer them. I will say, “This is My people”; and each one will say, “The Lord is my God.”

Job 23:10, Psalm 103:14, Lamentations 3:33, 2 Timothy 2:19-21, Malachi 3:3, Zechariah 13:9

EVENING
Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths.

Moses said to the Lord, “…I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You.” And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel. The humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His way. Who is the man that fears the Lord? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses.Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.The path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.
